About Design Better

Design Better is a building services engineering consultancy based in Sydney and working across Australia. We specialise in the hard part of decarbonising the built environment: existing buildings, with plant that has to be replaced, gas that has to come out, and people inside who need everything to keep working while it happens.

what we do.

Building electrification, major plant replacement, energy efficiency upgrades and portfolio decarbonisation strategies, for commercial office, aquatic and leisure, health and aged care, education, council and government assets. We also provide ESD, NCC Section J, NABERS, Green Star and building physics modelling services to both new builds and existing building modifications.

how we work.

One engineer, start to finish. You deal with the person doing the engineering. Paul scopes the job, does the analysis, writes the report and walks the plant room.

Numbers, not slogans. Every option we put forward comes with capacity, capex, running cost, carbon and NABERS impact, so the people who have to approve it can.

Designed for existing buildings. Most electrification and plant work fails on space, structure, electrical capacity or staging, not on the equipment. We start there.
